Benjamin Hughes joins Arbitration Chambers

Arbitration Chambers welcomed Benjamin Hughes as our latest member with effect from 1 August 2026.

Ben is one of the leading international arbitrators in the Asia-Pacific region and brings more than two decades of international arbitration experience to our roster.  Since transitioning from law firm practice in 2013, he has been appointed in more than 250 arbitrations with several billion dollars in dispute.

Ben is a member of the Court of Arbitration of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and serves on the Board of Directors of the Hainan International Arbitration Court.

In recent years his practice has become truly global, with appointments in matters seated in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the United States.

Ben has served as arbitrator under the rules of most major institutions. His practice spans a broad range of commercial disputes, including joint venture and shareholder disputes, intellectual property and technology disputes, construction and infrastructure projects, energy and resources, shipping and shipbuilding, manufacturing, military procurement, hotel management agreements and international sales contracts.

He has also maintained a distinguished academic career, serving as Associate Professor at Seoul National University Law School and Adjunct Professor at the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law, as well as holding visiting appointments at the University of Hong Kong and National Taiwan University.
